Historic-crafts.com is closing soon!

… but Historic Crafts the blog is not going away. I have moved some of the most read posts to the new blog: http://historic-crafts.blogspot.com/ along side some new articles.

The newsletter has also closed down but you can instead receive a newsletter every time a new article is posted by subscribing to the blog or following by email. You can also follow on the Facebook group!

Hope to see you on Facebook or the new blog,

Eddie xxx

I’m back and we’re moving!

So I’m kinda back from my blogging holiday now and something exciting had happened. I have taken the decision to move the  Historic Crafts blog to a new blogger platform. It can now be found at the following URL: http://historic-crafts.blogspot.com/

So why have I done this? Well I have been wanting to make some changes around Historic Crafts for a while. I haven’t been very happy working on the blog all on my own so I am hoping that this move makes it easier to involve other in the future. But even if it doesn’t the move still provides a more lightweight blog where I can add stories (my own and others) when I want. The first post I have published over on the new blog is a guest post from Ane with a nalbinding tutorial, which I am sure many of you have been looking forward to. I know I have.

Over the next 6 months this version of Historic Crafts will still be around so that you can keep reading the old posts and tutorials here. I will gradually move the most popular posts over to the new blog so that when this one closes down you can find it all over there.

If you are receiving the Historic Crafts newsletter or in other ways following the blog I want to encourage you to go over and follow the new blog too. There will be no new newsletter but there is the option of subscribing to the RSS feed, follow by email or follow with Google friend connect (all at the top of the right sidebar). You can also continue to follow by becoming a member of the Facebook group or on Twitter.

On the other hand, if you are more interested in what I am doing of crafty stuff this will move more and more over to the roued.com domain, where some changes will happen too!

As a last thing I just want to mention what I have been doing in my holiday. I spent some time dyeing with natural dyes with Cecile. If you are interested in this sort of thing she is writing up some fantastic posts on Ways of the Whorl about it. You should definitely check it out!

Take care and see you on the new blog,

Eddie

Going on holiday

I have decided, due to other commitments, to take a blogging holiday for the rest of March and possibly the beginning of April.
I think that we all would do well once in a while to step back and have a little think about where things are going and this is what I plan to use my little blogging holiday for. Historic Crafts began in 2010 as a joint venture but lately, I have been running it on my own. Looking back I now see that this has not been ideal. Neither for Historic Crafts nor for myself. With the launch of the Refashion Co-op in February I discovered a new way of running blogs. I came up with this idea of running a new Refashioning blog as a team of editors. There are 7 of us editors and we have an ever growing team of contributors. It is really the ideal way to work.
Over the last year I have continuously been asking people for contributions to Historic Crafts and some people have taken me up on it. I am so grateful for this. Thank you, all of you.
However, recently I have been playing with the idea of extending this and seeing if I can find some other editors to take on board. I don’t have a fixed idea of how this would work and I would first like to see if it is of interest to anyone. Have a think about it and send me an email if you want to talk about it further (eddie at historic-crafts dot com).

While I am taking a break, please feel free to explore the archives. I have also listed our interviews in the right sidebar for easy access.

I will be back in April with new energy and some new exciting projects. There will probably be some dyeing experiments, some more sock knitting and maybe even spinning. As I mentioned in a previous post if you want to see more of other crafts on Historic Crafts, step up, and tell me about it.

So long and take care,

Eddie
